Jay Zauderer Steps Down as President, Hands Reigns over to Haim Katz

Jay Zauderer stepped down as president of the Israel Association of Baseball at the Annual General Meeting held on December 6, 2005. Jay expressed his satisfaction that he was leaving the organization in healthy shape. The organization was sound financially and the membership is on a rise. Some of the more notable achievements during his tenure were the formation of the Junior League, sending the first Senior National team to a CEB tournament and hosting the 17'th Maccabiah games in Israel.

Haim Katz, who has served on the board for the past 5 years, took over as president. Peter Kurz stepped into the Secretary General position vacated by Ephraim Keren who replaces Haim as vice president. Nathan Pomerantz was unanimously reelected as treasurer. Haim emphasized in his inaugural address that he feels the IAB needs to make its number one goal, increasing the number of players. He set up a number of committees to help encourage more grass roots involvement by the general membership. (Inaugural address).

Several veteran board members stepped down after long years of service. David Schenker was honored for 17 years of service to the IAB. Bruce Maddy-Weizman also stepped down from the board to head the Raanana Moadon. Billy Wiesel, the pillar of baseball in Jerusalem, left his board position to be on the controller's committee. Andy Schwartz and Shlomit Becker also stepped down from the board to spend more time on the local programs.

New board members elected were: Nadav Cohen, Ariel Kornberg, and Bentzi Schlackman. Those remaining for another term are: Marsha Katz, Sam Pelter, David Silberklang and David Sommer.
