IAB Inaugurates Coaches Course The Israel Association of Baseball in cooperation with the Israel Softball Association is beginning a coaches course The course has been approved by the Ministry of Sport and will be held at the Seminar Hakibutzim in Tel Aviv. Graduates of the course will be certified baseball instructors under the Israel Sport's Law. This is a major step forward for Israel Baseball which will improve the level of coaching in Israel, and is crucial in our plans to expand baseball in Israel. The course consists of two parts, baseball practice, with David Schenker and Leon Klarfeld as the head instructorsand staff are scheduled, and theoretical courses to be held at Seminar Hakibutzim. The practical course will be held at Kibbutz Gezer on Tuesday evenings (from 7:00 - 10:15 p.m.) at Kibbutz Gezer. The proposed dates are: Oct. 31, Nov. 11, 28, Dec. 12, 26, Jan. 9, 16, 30,and Feb. 13. Eight additional sessions will be given by Ami Baram and staff of the Israel Softball Association. The theoretical part of the course will be held at Michlelet
Seminar Kibbutzim in Tel Aviv. The course will be offered on Sundays or
Wednesdays (your choice) starting on November 5. Each session (one per
week) will be given from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. The course will run for a total
of 18 sessions, which includes 3 sessions on First Aid. Attendance at
all sessions is mandatory The IAB is offering scholarships for anyone interested in taking the course and continuing on as a baseball coach. The sponsorships are in part supported by generous donations from Gary Jacobs of the Lake Elsinore Storm, and the Meitar family. Anyone interested in joining should contact Ephraim Keren who is the course coordinator.
