Hashmonaim Oulasts Jerusalem in Tiva Pelter Memorial Juvenile Tournament

Hashmonaim and Jerusalem Juveniles Sums up a very close and well played game

In Zofit the two undefeated Juvenile teams, Hashmonaim and Jerusalem met for the championship. David Tover pitched five innings for Hashmonaim. Ascoreless game in the first inning as the Jerusalem defense behind Elya kept it tight. Jerusalem scored first in the second on heads up base running by Chili and Saul Schulman. Hashmonaim countered in the bottom and took the lead in the third. In the fourth and fifth Yehuda Vecht struck out five of the seven batters he faced throwing out the sixth at first to keep Jerusalem in the game. In the top of the sixth Jerusalem tied the game, Daniel Offman who got on on a base hit worked his way to third and then stole home. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, David Tover (who earlier had rounded the bases due to an error by the Jerusalem left fielder) got a base hit and on the attempt to catch him at third Jerusalem lost the ball and he scored to end the game. David struck out twelve Jerusalem baters, Elya and Yehuda combined to strike out ten Hashmonaim batters – each team had six fielding outs including a catch in left field by each team.

After the game, IAB president Haim Katz and Sam Pelter spoke about Tiva Pelter in whose memory the tournament is played. They then handed out the gold medals to Hashmonaim and the silver to Jerusalem.
