The Israel Baseball League (IBL) and the Israel Association of Baseball (IAB) will team up with the Dan Duquette Baseball Academy to offer three baseball camps this summer as part of the. Coaches and players from the IBL will serve as instructors for experienced and novice players. Campers will learn fundamentals of the game while having fun through drills, contests, and scrimmages.

The second annual Camp of the Giants, July 1 to 5, will feature an advanced full-size diamond camp for 13-15 year olds and programs on smaller sized diamonds for veterans and rookies ages 8-12. The camp will use the ball fields at Raanana and nearby Zofit.

Campers will attend one of the special Fourth of July noon IBL games and will have an opportunity to meet the IBL managers and players after the game.

The Israeli National Cadet and Juvenile teams are expected to use the camp as part of their training for international tournaments to be held in Europe later in July. The 2006 Juvenile Team brought home a Bronze Medal after preparing at the Camp of the Giants.

The next two camps will use the fields at Kibbutz Gezer (July 8-13) and Sportek in Tel Aviv (July 29 to August 2). These camps are intended for 8-13 year old boys and girls. If interest warrants, full-size diamond instruction for 13 to 15 year olds will be offered at the Sportek Field camp.

All camps will feature opportunities for the campers to meet IBL managers (four of whom are retired MLB players) and coaches and quiz them on game strategy and their experience playing and coaching in professional and international competition. Campers will receive tickets to an IBL game so they can watch their coaches in action.

The Camp of the Giants also will bring baseball to other youth camps throughout Israel via its IAB-IBL Road Show clinics. Teams of four players from the IBL, including at least one Israeli citizen, will introduce campers to baseball basics and provide opportunity for campers to throw, catch, bat, and run the bases. Camps may sign up for this program though the IAB.

In addition to the camps, IAB-IBL Roadshow clinics, and personalized instruction, each IBL team will offer clinics in their home communities during the season. The sessions will include an opportunity for photos with the players and autographs.
